Music at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

Everyone is welcome.

Angelic Choir

Hallelujah! Praise God in his holy temple;  praise him in the firmament of his power.
Praise him for his mighty acts;  praise him for his excellent greatness.
Praise him with the blast of the ram’s-horn;  praise him with lyre and harp.
Praise him with resounding cymbals;  praise him with loud-clanging cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Hallelujah!

Psalm 150 (BCP 807–808)

Heavenly Music

Music and worship have always been inextricably linked. Psalm 150, above, makes clear that active music-making has a part of worship since ancient times. The psalms themselves were hymns of praise that were intended to be sung, and the Bible contains many other references to singing as a mode of worship. For many Christians, the presence of music and the act of singing or listening heightens worship.

Here at St. Luke’s, we sing the great hymns of the church, and anthems from many Sacred genres. All are welcome to join our Parish Choir, whether new to choral singing, or a seasoned veteran of many years of choral singing. Our music spans the spectrum from Gregorian Chant, Anglican Chant, Sacred music from many musical periods, and modern pieces with integrity of text and tune.

Parish Choir

The Parish Choir sings every Sunday at our 10:00 am service and also provides music for several special events through the church year. Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm in the Activities Room.

Vesper Bell Choir

The Vesper Bell Choir provides Voluntary music at least one Sunday a month. This 4-octave bell choir is comprised of ringers from Dauphin Way Methodist, Kingswood Methodist, Spring Hill Presbyterian, Spring Hill Baptist and St. Luke’s Episcopal. This choir also joins together to provide music for seasonal concerts and Evensong. Rehearsals are 5:30 pm on Mondays in the Nave.

Bella Campana Bell Choir

The Bella Campana (beautiful bells) Bell Choir will begin in late August 2025. This bell group will be comprised of ringers from St. Luke’s, enabling us to play more often in our Sunday worship, as well as for special events and Evensong. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 pm in the Nave.
